Thoughts, memories, flash backs...we all have them, cherish them, treasure them. If you scroll down memory lane we talk about the past or revisit the places which were important to us in the past. My trip down memory lane happened after 20 years to the place were I was raised and spent my entire childhood. It was exciting to knock on the doors of old neighbours and see a flash of recognition and broad smiles on their faces. It was thrilling to visit grocery stores, family doctors, office and domestic staff. Lots of emotions, loads of happiness. It was fun walking in the streets and parks which now looked small due to my wider exposure. The most memorable and emotional experience was the visit to my school. The scary, over powering building of then, looked old and worn out now. It brought back so many old memories at once. Some of the staff and teachers were still there. They could not recognise me initially, but when they did, they were showing me off with such pride and joy to the new lot as one of their best students.I went to all my favourite nooks and corners of my school with a lump in my throat and returned to Mangalore with joy in my heart. Receiving a well crafted letter with the sweetest of words from my head mistress Miss Solomon was the most unexpected surprise for me. She wrote that I made the entire school proud, by growing into a distinguished person in society.( from the pigtails, n uniform days.) This undoubtedly is one of my most cherished letters and possessions. In our hectic lives if we do take time, and make such trips the pleasure is always immense. Try to take a walk if not a trip in to your past, even if you live in the same city or town now, and experience the pleasure of meeting old pals. Cherish your old ties and bonds as they always make you stand in good stead!!
