" Appearance"...does it matters?
Can you help me with more sizes and colours in this same shirt..? Is he talking to me? I just turned to look from where I was simply standing and felt "yes" that he is talking to me in that store. I had to tell him laughingly, I would have loved to, but unfortunately I am also a buyer like him. I laughed to myself, thinking now a days staff look so smart..!( I was not offended, truely) Appearance, hmmmm!! You have to help my husband in selecting a diamond necklace for me was my sisters order from USA. My brother in law was in India, and so I had no choice but to do this task, not that I have much knowledge in diamonds but sure know what might look nice on my sis. We both were staying in different parts of Bangalore so some how we fixed up a day and time to meet up at this reputed diamond jewellery stores. I was on my own like any other tourist, so in casual jeans and tshirt, hopping in and out of autos..somehow reached the store, and realised I was early! As I was entering alone of course , I could see the curious glances from the security, gate man to the glamorously dressed countless sales girls. They were polite enough to ask what I want, thinking may be I entered a wrong store, and before they decide to show me the door. They did had the sales courtesy! I thought instead of just waiting for my BIL I can actually look through the patterns and may be short list so that we can save time. So I told them I want to see diamond necklaces. They really looked up and down at me, and then suggested I should go through their display first and then if I like anything, they can take it out for me. fair enough.. as I was looking through, and realised my sisters requirement n budget are little bigger, and so I asked them to show me such stuff...! By then they have decided I was not the buying types, and may not even know the value, so they actually politely refused saying those designs are shown in a chamber and if I was sure what I was asking for? By then I understood whats happening, and why they are treating me that way...and said that's ok..,at that point saw my BIL the NRI guy, and his Mom a famous spiritual lady in society walking in, getting all the attention from all possible staff with lot of Namasthes and good mornings. Ha...the next is history..not only coffee, tea drinks were offered in the chamber, but designs and deals were done, but of course I had the final say, I am sure to their staffs dismay!! Appearence...hm..does it matter? I was wanting to sign up a membership in a DVD center, and I asked them what I need to do. They looked at my appearance of casual clothes, bunched up hair, no jewellery of any kind, or even a hand bag..and asked if I can give them some proof. I mentioned our business firm name, and they asked me OK..where do you work there? In sales and marketing?, or Production?well...I am a partner in that company, and so I got my paper work done the next day,as I knew by then they have not believed me! huh..one more time! IWas very particular kids must know the value when buying some personal items of theirs, and should share the responsibility also if big money is involved. Buying a desk top was in the agenda for my son, and I took my son to the bank, asking for a loan. Usually the bank work is done by our staff, but since I Wanted my son to know the proceedings, we landed in the bank, in front of the manager. After talking to us for a few seconds he politely refused to give loan to my young son, and we had to return home, my son with terrible disappointment. I did not say anything but the next day the bank staff who normally attend our company deals came home and said the manager was new and not aware who we were, and now he being very apologetic wants to complete the formalities, of course at our own home at our own time!! haaaaa...appearance again!! I wanted to respond to an invite for a new dress store inaugurals and had no other choice but to drag my husband , saying just a few minutes and that's all it is. As I was going through isles of dresses I saw my husband coming towards me fuming, "shall we go"...! I saw him talking to some one just before that and was wondering what went wrong that he was so upset..! I believe as he was impatiently walking in the stores, a lady asked him if he can hold her baby, so she could go to the fitting room.I could not control my laughter, imagining him as the sales person the lady thought has to be !! But heard him grumble too..I would have said YES not just the baby but mother too, if they both were pretty! Ha....so what do I say..but appearances do matter...! In my day to day life I don't much care how I dress up or look, and normally go with the weather, and my comfort..and feel dressing ups are done only for parties and weddings. But now I know if you want the best, dress the best or look your best! hm..do I follow?...not really.. somethings never change like me n how I look, and thank God I am not such a big shopaholic!

Hey Keerthi, I am sure you look good whatever you wear( or dont wear), so may be the shopkeepers needed glasses? or were not smart enough at judging people?
