There are some people in this world who inspire us through their actions more than just by their words. My inspirational sources are my grand mothers. Though I did not interact much with my paternal grand mother I have great respect and love for this beautiful person. She raised all her six children; single handedly, without any support from her husband, financially or physically. Her willpower and inner strength are what I hope I have inherited!
Beautiful and elegant wife of a successful and well respected businessman, my maternal grandmother was more known for her gentle and humble nature. An excellent round the clock hostess, with extraordinary culinary skills, she distributed these qualities equally to all her children. She is a major influence in my life, as she lived to the ripe old age of 94, and passed away just last year. Her words of wisdom, her generosity and most importantly her tolerance taught me a lot, as I was very close to her. She gifted me some of the best tips of life. Always enthusiastic to gain knowledge, she amazed me by learning Hindi with her great grand child at the age of 85, even though she never ever had any formal education. My sister and me started a charity trust in her name, which gives scholarships to brilliant Konkani girls with poor financial backround.
I have been an ardent admirer of these two iconic women who have proved that “ Life happens when you make it happen. These are my inspirations, my role models..,real “women of substance.”
